Just few days back Virgin has launched its wireless data card vlink and now BSNL has unveiled new offers for its CDMA subscribers.
You have two options to choose from bsnl:
- Get speed of up to 144 Kbps by using the NIC cards
- Use EVDO Cards you will get speed up to 2.4 Mbps.
Good news is that BSNL is also offering roaming facility on these cards at no extra cost.
Till September 2009 – BSNL is offering the PCMCIA type of NIC and EVDO cards at Rs. 1,680 and Rs. 2,100 till Sept 30, 2009. The two new plans are Network Interface Card based and will be offered at a monthly charge of Rs 250 with deliverable speeds of 144 Kbps and the other plan priced at Rs. 650 per month delivered over EVDO backbone offering speed of up to 2.4 Mbps. The new tariffs are applicable from July 1, 2009.
The above-mentioned tariff offers users’ unlimited data transfer every month. Certain plans like Rs. 250 for NIC and Rs. 550 for EVDO cards will be discontinued by BSNL. The company will allow users to migrate to another plan within six months.

Where you have got this experience ? I mean place…
I think BSNL want to push all their old stuff in godown. After launching 3G there is poor demand for these cards. I have one. The signal strength is good in my area. But download & upload is very slow if u compare to wired broadband connection. Even though the signal shows 5 bars on screen the download never crossed above 300 kbps, whereas BSNL claims upto 2.4 mbps. Before buy, ensure that u have proper signal in ur area and don’t expect a good speed as u seen on wired broadband.
I am nearby BSNL Tower and found BSNL Data card is extremly slow which is useless i.e faaltu .By mistake I took it and now I am going to surrender it. I request all customer, please have a expereince before buying it since I am cheated.
from Broadband also I was cheated. I had took the Rs 125 plan But more than Rs 4500 (in a month) I had to pay whereas use was limited and after three months I surrender it. On the other hand,BSNL staff are also not cooparated.
I have purchased evdo card from bsnl in the month of june 2009. the signal is very weak and speed of the internet is inconsistent and connection terminates frequently. The tariff of rs.650 P.M. is exhorbitant considering the low speed. the down load speed is around 100 kbps and surfing speed around 40 kbps. It is very painful to open a web page. This is daylight robbery by bsnl. I am in Mysore and there is no proper connectivity inside the city let alone outside. when i am not even getting around 100 kbps speed how can i get 2.5 mbps speed as promised by bsnl. this is a hollow promise. further the modem charges is also exhorbitant and there is no proper technical back up or service to cater to the customer queries. Unless the bsnl drastically improve the speed in a quick time bsnl evdo internet will die a natural death.

Hi friends, BSNL data card is really worst, I purchased it for some urgent needs, but couldnt get the connectivity…it gives only a rate of 0 to 10 kbps and comes back again to 0 kbps… gone to office several times and they say in ur area its slow now..will be okay in a month..
and nobody to attend a complaint…I really feel like left in the middle of a ocean after buying this card with no proper person to respond to complaints …worst service
plz do not buy this EVDO cards believing their false promises
I suffer this problem in Pondicherry. If u really want to buy, enquire and check clearly whether you will have enough coverage in ur area for a minimum speed ..(600 kbps)..then go for it …otherwise its worth the dust

I am from pondicherry residing in villianur.
I have bought a Edvo connection on June 2009 and the speed was really poor by 1X.But now all of a sudden its getting connected as EDVO and the speed goes up to 1mbs and the download speed has increased to 56kbs.
So wait for sometime,they are upgrading the tower and this be finished soon.
hi PAL thanks for your information, I too was told the same answer from exchange that in my area (Lawspet) it will be upgraded soon, within a month. Let me wait and see
But they hold the responsibility to inform the public before purchasing EVDO card that its still not operational in certain areas, which they fail to do because of which people like me suffer. When we get the problem, there is no customer support dept to attend the calls etc.,
anyway lemme wait for the day to come
there are no such schemes bsnl is cheating public by selling evdo card at 4200 rs instead of 2100 in this site i purchased it on 1/9/2009 & got no such scheme
