Eko Vehicles launched its first hybrid scooter ‘ET-120’ in the Indian market but it will be available to buy at May 2010.ET-120 is expected to price between INR 40,000 to INR 42,000 to Indian consumers.ET-120 model was developed in collaboration with U.S. and UK companies including U.S-based Emerging Vehicle Technologies.
ET-120 will run on a combined fuel of a 70cc petrol engine and an electric motor. The top speed of ET 120 is 65km/hour.The company said the bike has thee engine modes: only electric (when the bike will run on battery for 40 km on full charge), only petrol (it will give 65 km a litre) and hybrid (both electric and petrol will run together to give 120 km a litre of petrol). When the bike is on hybrid mode the battery will be charged automatically in the running and there is no need for charging.SO its Mileage in hybrid mode is 120 km/litre.
“We developed a hybrid technology which will allow the electric motor together with the gasoline motor or petrol motor to be in combination. So, they should get unlimited range. So, when you drive in gasoline, you are charging the motor,” said Alan Rubinstein, a U.S collaborator.
Presently, Eko Vehicles is in talks with investors to raise INR 37 – 47 crore by the end of January. The company had a turnover of Rs12 crore in 2008-09.
