BSA Motors new 3 escooters coming up in 2010-11

BSA Motors will launch three new models in the electric scooter segment.  They are looking  over 20 per cent share in the Indian electric scooter market by 2010-11. To achieve the targets they can double the capacity of its Chennai plant to 9,000 units a month as part of the strategy.

“During 2010-11, we will invest Rs 50 crore and launch three new models of e-scooters. Of this, Rs 30 crore will go for market development and the rest for our work on motor controller technology and battery charging technology,” BSA Motors Vice President K B Srinivasan told reporters of the sidelines of the 10th Auto Expo in delhi..

Harley davidson india bikes motorcycles prices features mileage specifcations

US based motorcycle brand Harley Davidson  launched 12 bikes at India’s 10th Auto Expo in Delhi. The bikes will be in the price range of Rs 6.95 lakh to Rs 34.95 lakh.

“Twelve models in total from the five Harley families will be introduced in India. Bikers will get to select motorcycles from each of the company’s five model families.”Anoop Prakash, MD of Harley Davidson, said at the Delhi expo.

Models from the Sportster, Dyna, VRSC, Softail, and Touring ranges would be available having the engine capacity between 883cc to 1803cc. Completely-built-unit (CBU) route would be used to bring in the bikes in the country. Harley’s starting range costs Rs 6.95 lakh which is lower than the bikes of other brands who use CBU rout costing well over Rs 10 lakh.

Harley’s most iconic model Fatboy would be introduced in tricolor in special edition. Ultra Classic Electra Glide touring model is the most expensive priced at Rs 34.95 lakh.

Harley has tied up with ICICI bank to finance the bikes. Harley Davidson will directly sell and service all bikes in India. Initially the company will have one dealer each at Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh and plans to have 20 dealers in the next five years.

Harley recently conducted camps and offered test-rides to more than 300 enthusiasts in the country, which is the world’s second largest market for two-wheelers. Japanese firms Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha as the main players in the sector where more than 500-600 super bikes are sold every year.

espark price – GM Chevrolet Spark Electric India features mileage price specs

General Motors India showcased its electric car e-spark at the ongoing auto expo. But GM will commercially launch electric car Spark in India in October this year. It will  be priced around Rs 7 lakh.

The e-Spark will come equipped with remote diagnostics system that will allow Service Engineers to monitor each car remotely for vital parameters and customers can be informed in advance if the need arises. This will minimize vehicle downtime and allow for advance readiness for vehicle servicing prior to arrival at service stations.

“We are looking at initially manufacturing 5,000 units of the car (e-Spark). The car will roll out from our Talegaon, Maharashtra facility from October this year,” GM India President and MD Karl Slym said

E-Spark would be produced in technical collaboration with Reva electric car company. Reva would provide battery technology for the e-Spark.
